Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service (Rating's) Association
Important - this web page will not be available after 30th November - a new host will be sought and details will appear in the next newsletter
Welcome to the official QARNNS (Rating's) Association web page, this page was first launched in March 2000. It is hoped that that this page will provide a valuable link to our members all over the world keeping them in touch with the Association and it's activities.
The Association currently has over 300 members, the Association is open to both serving and ex serving rating members of the Queen Alexandra's Royal Naval Nursing Service - this also includes members of the QARNNS(R).
Each year there is an Annual General Meeting and an associated social event which is usually attended by 40+ members. The actual venue and geographical location for the AGM varies each year essentially it rotates between London, Birmingham, Portsmouth and Plymouth. This variation was instigated to vary the annual travelling cost and time for members who wish to attend and who are located throughout the UK.
In addition to the national event local branches organise their own social events and formal AGM's. Please contact one of your local committee members for details.
If you would like more information about joining please contact our membership Secretary Sue Pyke.
It is envisaged that this web site will continue to evolve over the next couple of years - if any of you have any ideas as to how the site could develop please email me with your ideas.
If any member has any information to share or request and feel that this web page could provide an appropriate medium please let me know.
The QARNNS (Rating's) Association has acquired the domain name www.qarnnsratings.cwc.net - it is hoped that this will be an easy URL for our members to remember!

Ann Smith - Most enjoyable day, buffet absolutely marvelous. Looking forward to next year.
Jan Genivieve - Short term memory failing no need to worry only long term memory needed for these reunions!
Jo Halliday - What I did not remember someone else did! the oral historians should have been here tonight!
Celia Wild - Delighted to be back in B'ham - lovely meal, nice venue - very 'naval' I think the committee deserve medals - they are really great. Lovely to see so many recognised faces and to make some new friends.
Helen Nethercott - Love coming to Birmingham. Hotel very good, nice to be with everyone. The Nautical Club so friendly and helpful, and a lovely lunch too. Anne has done us proud again. Lovely to see so many familiar faces and meet some new folks.
Jan Tocher - First time in Brum, excellent spread at the Nautical Club. Lovely to see old friends - roll on next year and cheers to the committee!
Sue Pyke - As on our previous visit we were well catered for and made to feel welcome. We will return!!! Great to see some new faces too.
Delann Wood - As everyone else has said the hotel excellent and staff very patient in the dining room!!!!! the Nautical Club great and the food marvelous. Looking forward to next year in Pompey!
Sue Drummond - I am always delighted by the way the years fall away - old friends and acquaintances pop up as though we've never been apart and we talk for hours about the past as though it was yesterday - friends like no others!
The award for the longest contribution goes to Julie Willis, however I can assure you it is worth reading!
The week end started on Friday, Jacqui and I met on the train at Reading and we alighted in Birmingham New St (we had not met since Xmas and there was a lot to catch up on!!!!). Unfortunately neither of us read our joining instructions properly and arrived one day early at the Nautical Club - much to the doorman's surprise! He was more taken aback when we told him we were staying for 2 nights. Alas we should have realised we were supposed to be at the Strathallen Hotel. However, cheekily we suggested we might partake of a meal at the Nautical Club before getting a taxi to the correct rendezvous! Fortunately he felt sorry for us and signed us in! After a leisurely lunch and a few alcoholic refreshments we were personally escorted by 'mein host' to our hotel.
The week end was a triumph we have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves meeting old friends and catching up!
Jacqui Hand was Julie's travelling companion and in her words - I agree with all Julie has said!
